Styles of Therapy

Anti-Oppresive Approach

In my practice, I use an anti-oppressive approach to help clients understand and challenge the power imbalances and systemic inequalities in their lives. This approach focuses on how social factors such as race, gender and class affect their experiences. By creating a safe and inclusive environment, I empower clients to build self-awareness, resilience, and healthier, more equitable relationships.

Culturally Adapted Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CA-CBT)

I use Culturally Adapted Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CA-CBT) by integrating traditional cognitive-behavioral techniques with a deep understanding of my clients' cultural backgrounds. This means I tailor therapy sessions to respect and incorporate their cultural beliefs and values. By doing so, I aim to make therapy more relevant and effective in addressing their unique challenges.

Humanistic Therapy

In my practice, I use humanistic therapy to help clients realize their potential for growth and self-actualization. I create a nonjudgmental, empathetic space where clients can explore their feelings and develop self-awareness. This approach encourages self-acceptance and personal responsibility, helping clients recognize their strengths and achieve meaningful change.

Narrative Therapy

In Narrative Therapy, I focus on helping clients reshape the stories they tell about themselves and their lives. I work with clients to explore alternative narratives that highlight their strengths and resilience.

Trauma Informed Practices

My approach includes Trauma-Informed Practices, where therapist and client work collaboratively to create a safe and supportive environment. I prioritize building trust, respecting their boundaries, and empowering them to guide their healing journey. This involves understanding how trauma affects their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and using techniques that promote resilience and growth.

Systemic and Family Therapy

In my practice, I use systemic therapy to help people by looking at how their relationships and social networks affect their feelings and behaviour. Instead of just focusing on the individual, I examine how interactions and connections with family, friends, and other important people in their lives play a role in their problems. By understanding these patterns and dynamics, I can help them find better ways to communicate and relate to each other, leading to healthier relationships and a happier, more balanced life.

Our approach to mental health care is built on these core values.
